Hokmah House: where wisdom dwells

We desire to publish books and resources from people who have gained spiritual wisdom and biblical truth to share with the rest of the world. We want to bring spirit-filled voices to the wilderness and prepare the way of the Lord!

  • The Hebrew word for wisdom is Chokmah (pronounced hokmah). Hebrew words are like diamonds with multiple facets. Just as a diamond's facets allow light to enter and reflect at various angles, Hebrew words are packed with different meanings and connections. Chokmah conveys not only intellectual knowledge but also applied wisdom in practical life and creativity, encompassing God’s gift of divine understanding.

Hokmah House was thus named with the idea of being a place where Godly wisdom dwells. here

About Katie

Katie is an all-round creative: designer, writer, photographer, and more. In addition to her creative work and ministry, she is raising three children with her husband. Originally from the USA, her journey brought her to Australia, where she now holds dual citizenship. Through her writings and designs, Katie hopes to encourage others, reminding them that no matter where they are in life, they are deeply loved by God and never alone.

“Conversations with me can be interesting and downright confusing since I think in circles and webs instead of straight lines. I see the world through this lens and consider it a true gift. Because I am American and Australian, you'll notice my grammar inconsistencies because I use 'favour' with an ‘ou’ and ‘realize’ with a ‘z’. But I will die on the Oxford Comma hill.

My passion for creating, writing, and designing comes from my desire to understand the world, others, and the human condition. God, in His infinite wisdom, has given each of us this short time on earth to experience the tension of a world that is “now” and “not yet.” Vast beauty and deep sorrow. The joy of birth and the heartache of death. But He is with us through it all and has plan for our lives that is far beyond what we could ever think or imagine.

Many of my favourite authors and mentors have long departed this earth: C.S. Lewis, Madeline L’Engle, Henri Nouwen, G.K. Chesterton, D.L. Moody, and Elisabeth Elliot have all shaped my mind and understanding of this wrestle and dance through life.

We are all on this journey together, and I want to be a companion, for however long, on your journey Home to Him.”

With love, Katie

A bit more of the story…

I grew up in a very Christian community, which I was so blessed by and remain so grateful for. There were shared values that the community held that really created a supportive and safe place to grow up in. I was accustomed to church on Sunday and the rest of my week being dedicated to other things with the occasional prayer if I needed something. After journeying through an intense “prodigal” season, I realized how little I actually knew and understood about the Bible and what it meant to REALLY follow Jesus.

So I started digging. And seeking. This opened up an entirely new world of revelation and for several years I lived in the fullness of Matthew 7 which says “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”.

It was ultimately the book of Ecclesiastes that led to a great breakthrough in my life. The most “depressing” book of the Bible led to the biggest breakthrough of my life. I continued this journey, purchased half of an entire Christian bookstore (shoutout to Koorong), and haven’t looked back since. My husband, Reegan, and I had a quite drastic change in the tragectory of our lives when we were called into ministry. I’ll share about that and other details of my story in articles and posts to come!

Welcome.

Remember this - you are not alone
